Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
